WEST SICILY - AEGADIAN ISLANDS

The best destination for Families and Friends loving peace and the contact with nature.

As soon as you exit from touristic port in Palermo of Marina Villa Igiea (our base) touristic port (in Palermo), just head west and in 90 nM you reach the fabulous Aegadian Island. Most people will love a stop in San Vito lo Capo on the 2-ways.

The Egadi Islands aren't much known to non-Italians, and outside the peak Italian holiday period of July-August, tourism isn't too intrusive: you come here for the chill-out atmosphere, not certainly for the glamour.

There are services for tourists - good places to stay, restaurants, cafes, shops, bike hire and boat trips - but you'll still encounter a very authentic and welcoming local atmosphere. It is really quite remarkable how easily and quickly you find yourself in a different world: pottering past the rickety fish stalls where Favignana's fishermen sell their catch, or sipping wine at a cafe table as a local wedding spills out from the Madrice Church into the wide piazza, where small children play on their bicycles.

Favignana Island

It is the largest and perhaps the most popular, largely thanks to its crystal clear blue waters and unique bays such as Cala Rossa. Breathtaking limestone cliffs plummet to the cobalt blue sea, endless horizons abound, and mountain trails offer wonderful walks.

Marettimo Island

Marettimo is largely preserved from tourism, unspoiled in its waters and its terrestrial nature, so the island is a real hiding place - a calm and relaxing place, silent for most of the year. Its coastline is of great charm: numerous sea caves pierce the Dolomite cliffs overlooking the sea, such as the Grotta del Cammello, which houses a pebble beach and the remains of a Roman settlement.

Levanzo Island

Levanzo, the smallest, but no less inviting, is a very hilly island: a large part of the coast is made up of rocky cliffs overlooking the sea, while reserving beautiful beaches. Everything here is essential, but adorable: there is only one village (Cala Dogana), a street, two shops, two hotels and two restaurants. Peace and tranquility are assured and the stressful life of the city soon becomes a distant memory.
